Photoshop includes a limited element searching tool that searches for only the elements you tell it to search for. Sometimes, a more advanced feature can limit the reach of the element searching tool by implementing keyword searching. In the Elements Organizer, take note of the `Search Elements` keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F).

Touring Photoshop Elements

When you open Photoshop Elements for the first time, you’re greeted with the interface of your image that you imported from a computer folder or from an image-editing program. (See Chapter 2 for a discussion of importing your image from a file.)

Figure 14-1 shows the first image I opened to work on in the Organizer.

As you can see in Figure 14-1, the Organizer offers four types of layers, three tools — Brushes, Pencils, and Paintbrush — and a few options for changing how you want things to look.

Here’s a quick overview of the Organizer:

The Layers palette: Tapping the Layers palette displays the available layers you can work on. Each layer that you create is displayed as a small thumbnail image in the palette. They can be tiled left, right, or down. You can rename them or delete them if they no longer belong to an image you’re working on. You can double-click on a thumbnail to apply changes to the layer. The color of a layer represents how much it’s visible. If a layer is transparent, you see a black outline. If the layer is visible, the color of the layer is determined by the image.

The three tools in the Elements Organizer are

Brushes: The Bristle icon (b) in the Organizer represents brushes. When you use a brush, you paint with color on your image. You can use only one brush at a time, and you can’t change the size or the opacity of the brush. You have a wide variety of brushes available.

Pencils: The Eraser icon (e) in the Organizer represents the pencil tool. The pencil tool works the same way as a brush; the difference is that you use it

What is Photoshop Elements?

Although Photoshop Elements may be used for many of the same tasks as Photoshop, it is more focused on editing photos. It is primarily a photo editing software (without the complexities of a photo editor) and is accompanied by image-editing software Adobe Bridge.

Elements does not offer as many options as Photoshop and is more suited for people who simply want to retouch and organize images or create graphics. In terms of features, this means that it is much less powerful than Photoshop but is easier to use.

Elements also has the ability to allow users to make photo collages, crop and panoramic images, and create cute cartoon characters. Photoshop Elements has fewer tools than Photoshop and a user-friendly interface.

Best Features of Photoshop Elements

Advanced image editing

Elements is a powerful tool for editing both traditional and digital photos. This includes modifying colours, light levels, removing red-eye, and correcting any problems.

There are many more features, including the ability to adjust the contrast, adjust the brightness and colour temperature, create multiple layers, crop, resize, and rotate images.

Editing images is incredibly easy with this free application. This means that you can easily edit both traditional photographs and digital photographs.

Unmatched integration

Elements allows you to view and manage all of the files you have stored in Adobe Bridge. This includes files from any type of camera.

You can also link any folder or USB drive that contains files. For example, a USB drive containing all of your photos can be linked to Elements. This is also true for folders, which may be organised in any way you please.

Elements allows you to link and manage all of your devices and folders from one place. This is extremely convenient as you can view everything in one easy-to-use interface.

Drag-and-drop

To view your files, you must download and run Adobe Bridge. Once you have, you can drag your files into this interface.

You can also download additional files into Bridge using drag-and-drop. For example, you can drag a file from your hard drive onto Bridge and then drag another file onto that image.

This is extremely easy to use and makes managing your files extremely simple.

Partial and full image viewing

Using Elements allows you to view different parts of an image. This is great for viewing your entire picture in low resolution,

The theoretical behavior of birefringence of a polarized submillimeter-wave terahertz (THz) wave is analyzed by using the Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction theory. The simulation results for both linear and circular polarized waves have been obtained. In addition, the magnetic-field profiles of the THz waves are analyzed by using the Biot-Savart law.The Cosby Show is turning 20 next month and to celebrate, VH1 is rolling out a long-form retrospective “The Cosby Show: A Look Back,” airing on VH1 on Monday, Dec. 19 at 9 p.m. ET. The documentary, which has a companion on-demand special available now, offers the first single-screen TV interview with Bill Cosby since his wife of 60 years, Camille, died in 2015.

Top Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett on Friday urged patience in the face of what her office described as a “skeptical” media and Congress as the administration looks to kill the “Train Wreck” health care reform bill.

“I think in a case like this, it is a little difficult to just come out and say we’re going to pull the train,” Ms. Jarrett, the White House’s chief of staff and senior adviser, said on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS.” “Congress is going to have to change the Senate rule, and the train is going to have to go in the right direction.”

Ms. Jarrett said the train is the larger, financial and economic aspects of health care reform, but the public is more focused on quality of care.

“The public is aware of the financial problems. The public is aware of the enormous amount of money the health care industry is going to have to spend on reforming the industry,” Ms. Jarrett said. “But they are not aware of some of the problems we’re going to have to fix for the quality of the care that they’re going to have.”

She said the train did not have to stop and that the administration was not going to decide to pull back on its proposal.

“What we’re going to do is we’re going to wait for Congress to change the rules of the Senate,” she said. “Then we’ll have an opportunity to get this through the whole process. We’re not going to quit while we’re ahead.”

Democratic Sens. Max Baucus of Montana and Olympia Snowe of Maine — who were pushing for a vote on a “skinny bill” — announced late Thursday that they would not be bringing up such a bill. A Senate Democratic leadership source told The Washington Times that no vote will be called without bipartisan support.

“I don’t think she’s saying don’t fight it. I think she’s saying, wait for the Senate to amend the Senate rule,” former GOP Rep. Tom Davis said of Ms. Jarrett’s comments on CNN.

On Thursday, the House voted to pass a bill that came out of the Energy and Commerce Committee, with no Republican support.
