Workflow and basic editing

To help you quickly achieve results with Photoshop, the interface is divided into different sections. When you start a new image, you’ll be presented with the Settings dialog ( the first window in the panel on the left of the image below.) From there, you can select a preset mode, document type and resolution, a background color, and a color mode.

Every layer in the image that you create will be color coded in the Layers palette (right). You can rename layers, change their order, and easily apply different effects, actions, and masks to them (by clicking the buttons in the layer palette).

When you add new layers to your image, they won’t be stacked vertically; they’ll be grouped on top of each other.

Note: The Background layer in the image below is a guideline, not a layer. When the Background layer is visible, the selection tool will take you to that layer (rather than to the active layer above it).

Photoshop is a digital-editing software where you lay elements from one layer over another. All of your layers are part of a single Photoshop document, and they support the entire page. You can remove and add layers as many times as you want, so you can always go back and edit something that you’ve done.

The Master or Reference layer, and any foreground or overlying layer are not visible until you apply effects to the layers below it or turn them into a visible layer by selecting them with the Magic Wand or by clicking the eye at the bottom right of a layer.

The most important part of Photoshop is the Layers palette, which you can access by clicking the eyedropper icon at the bottom right of the toolbars (right). You can choose which Layers palette you want to use by clicking the little gear icon at the top of the Layers palette and selecting one.

Whenever you add a new layer, it will be automatically added to the Layers palette. You can also insert, copy, and paste layers from the Layers palette.

Progressive Lightbox

Progressive Lightbox is an Adobe Photoshop action that will resize a picture to be enlarged then reduced to be displayed on a lightbox.

Progressive Lightbox Details

Lightbox: Lifts the lightbox into place on the current image. When the action completes, a progress window is displayed and the image is resized and rotated based on the lightbox and size of the subject.

Tracking Crop: Moves the viewfinder to the portion of the image designated by the lightbox.

Lightbox Crop: Crop of the subject within the viewfinder while maintaining the size, quality and aspect ratio of the original image.

Rotate: Rotates the image to match the aspect ratio of the lightbox.

Rotate Left, rotate right: Rotates the image left or right.

Resize: Resizes the image to fit the lightbox.

Offset: Offset the top, middle and bottom of the image to adjust for the angle of the subject within the lightbox.

Influence of cell-wall composition and age on attachment and lysis of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
The influence of the cell-wall constituents on the attachment of polymorphonuclear leukocytes was studied using human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) of different ages: freshly isolated cells, purified after filtration on monolayers of fibroblasts, and PMNs adherent after 2-3 days of incubation on plastic. The macromolecules cross-linked by transglutaminase, a polymerization enzyme released by activated PMNs, were characterized by amino acid composition, ultraviolet spectra and/or fluorescence measurements. The results demonstrated that negatively charged sites of the cell-wall mucopolysaccharides do not seem to be involved in cell-cell interaction of PMNs. The duration of the contact between PMN and the culture substratum was of importance in the attachment. Results of the experiment with PMNs adherent after 2-3 days indicated that some macromolecules present on the cell-wall during the first hours of PMN attachment are transient and their absence or their presence in different proportions in the cell-wall is probably involved in the disassembly of the cell-wall which precedes PMN adhesion.USS Erie

USS Erie (PF-36) was a that served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. She was the second U.S. Navy ship to bear the name.

Construction
Erie was launched 11 July 1943, sponsored by Mrs. Gertrude E. Pierce, as a war emergency construction contract and commissioned 20 October 1943, Captain S. J. Pennoyer in command.

Service history

World War II
Following shakedown exercises out of Trinidad, Erie sailed from Miami, Florida, 19 November 1943 to join the convoy for Trinidad, escorting it to Allied headquarters in the Southwest Pacific. Here she joined a group of American and Australian frigates which swept the Solomon Islands in search of Japanese troop-carrying warships. Arriving at Funafuti, Ellice Islands, 14 January 1944, she then escorted the vital mineral and food carriers which helped build up New Hebrides and Tulagi.

The frigate’s next assignment was to support Allied forces in the Battle of the Komandorski Islands in May. In the fierce amphibious action 8 May, she shared the victory with the escort carrier, and was present on the scene 6 May when the

Bare Earth Zee

Bare Earth Zee is a music venue in London that was established in February 2007 and opened in March 2008 in Hoxton, Shoreditch. It is a live venue which plays a variety of indie and rock music. Bare Earth Zee has seen performances by Metronomy, The Cribs, The Kooks, Editors, Frightened Rabbit, Beach House, Haim, The Vaccines, The Horrors, The Invisible, Middle Child, Mae, The Big Pink, Son Lux, James Blake, Handsome Furs and Phoenix.

Bare Earth Zee has shared that its name is intended to be a joke, but also because the venue takes its name from The Bare Necessities album by The Kinks which they have been listening to consistently whilst practising.

William Harris Chase (1815–1884) was an American lawyer, militia general and justice of the Supreme Court of Mississippi.

Biography
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 7, 1815. He was educated at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and graduated in 1833. He read law in his father’s office, and was admitted to the bar in 1835.

In 1836, he moved to the Mississippi Territory, where he worked in private practice. In 1837, he was elected the Sheriff of Coffee County, Mississippi, and the following year, the District Attorney of the Second Judicial District.

Chase married Caroline Jane Stephens in 1842 and had two sons and a daughter.

In 1847, Chase was appointed as the State Attorney for the First Judicial District of Mississippi. In 1849, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where he continued to practice law.

By the time of the outbreak of the American Civil War, Chase was colonel of the 7th Regiment Alabama Volunteers, which was organized at Huntsville in June 1861. He was elected a major general of volunteers in February 1862.

He was one of the first officers of the United States Colored Troops. He was appointed major general of the 61st U.S. Colored Troops, and held that command until the close of the war. He was present at the First Battle of Selma.

In 1864, Chase was elected a justice of the Supreme Court of Mississippi. He served
