1. **Press the S key to display the Photoshop Layers panel.**

Figure 1-5B shows the Layers panel, which lists the files in a project.

2. **To add a new layer, click to select the layer below in the Layers panel.**

The new layer appears highlighted.

3. **Click the New Layer button to insert a new layer, as shown on the left in** **Figure** **1-5C** **.**

If you’ve already created a new layer and want to create a new layer over that, click the New Layer button with the Layers panel active to insert a new layer between the existing layers. A menu appears that allows you to delete the layers below that layer, as shown on the right in Figure 1-5C.

4. **Click and drag the marquee around the box shown in Figure** **1-5D** **.**

The box moves around as you drag. When you’re done, click outside of the box or press the Esc key to deselect it.

5. **If you want to make the new layer fill the selected portion of the image, choose either Select** ⇒ **Color Range** or Select** ⇒ **Eyedropper** from the Layers panel menu, as shown in Figure** **1-5E** **.**

If you prefer to create a selection and paint a new layer over that selection, you need to convert the selection to a selection.

6. **To convert the selection, click the icon at the right end of the Layers panel menu, as shown on the left in Figure** **1-5F** **.**

The Layers panel converts the selection to a selection. If you don’t see the icon, use the keyboard to select Convert Selection to from the Layers panel menu and then press Enter.

7. **Click the New Layer button to insert a new layer below the converted layer.**
8. **To fill the new layer, choose Select** ⇒ **Color Range** or Select** ⇒ **Eyedropper** and paint over the converted layer.

While the editing tools of Elements can already produce great images, the software lacks layer functionality and other important tools Photoshop users may be accustomed to.

In this Photoshop tutorial, we’ll teach you how to use the most important features and procedures, which will allow you to create beautiful images using the software.

Creating a ready-to-use template

Before you start creating great images, you need to create your pre-made templates. Use elements templates for different categories of images.

You can create pre-made templates by using the New Template… button in the left-hand side.

You can use the following button to create, edit and save templates:

The selected category is the basis of the template.

In the newly opened menu, select the option for a page or photo.

The only important feature is the “sample images” button.

The number of images is the number of samples displayed in the right-hand column.

If you select the option All images, you’ll see the list of all images.

If you want to create a template for a group of images, use the checkboxes in the right-hand column.

If you use the compact function for creating templates, then you can quickly select all images or check one after another.

When the template is ready, double-click it in the left column.

If you accidentally click the Go to image, the template will open in the right-hand column. You should open this column first and then double-click the template.

If you want to create a template that’s automatically updated when you add new images, use the option to Update template images automatically.

When you create a template, the images are saved in the folder C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements\Elements 11\Templates.

This folder has a root that serves as a folder for all templates, which is useful for groups of templates, for example, to create a header and footer for a website, or for creating one template that covers a lot of sites.

Creating a single-page template

Single-page templates are created for images with different dimensions. If you create a page template manually, you need to prepare the image and save it in a folder, so the software can automatically select a suitable page size.

I’m new to android programming, so excuse me if my question looks silly. I have a button which fills the space of the EditText, but after action, the wrong empty space appears, I don’t know how to fix this problem.
