Recent ophthalmic measurement techniques are widely used in the field of “ophthalmic measurements” for periodically measuring a refractive power of an eye to be examined or measuring a shape or curvature of a cornea of the eye, in order to determine an intraocular lens (IOL) power required for wearing the eye, and a surgical procedure that is necessary for correcting a refractive error of the eye.
Now, a case of optically measuring a refractive power of an eye to be examined is explained by taking a refractive state of the eye of a person as an example. In the case of a myopic eye, the shape of the cornea of the eye is flattened as compared to that of a normal eye, and thus, a power of a refractive lens for the myopic eye is set to be low, in order to correct the refractive error of the myopic eye. On the other hand, in the case of a hyperopic eye, the shape of the cornea is distorted as compared to that of the normal eye, and thus, a power of a refractive lens for the hyperopic eye is set to be high, in order to correct the refractive error of the hyperopic eye. Accordingly, by bringing the refractive power of the refractive lens in accordance with a refractive error of an eye to be examined, it is possible to easily attain the balance between enhancement and correction of the eye refractive power.
