2. Description of the Related Art
Optical imaging systems are used in many different types of applications, such as film cameras, video cameras, microscopes, and medical imaging. For example, in ophthalmic surgery, a medical imaging system may be used to display an eye fundus in real-time to assist the surgeon in performing an ophthalmic procedure. Such medical imaging systems include, for example, ultrasound systems, laser ophthalmoscopes, and optical coherence tomography.
Most such medical imaging systems typically provide images in a single color, for example, red, green, or blue. However, to provide images in real-time in combination with simultaneous surgical interventions, it is desirable to provide multiple image color simultaneously. Also, the same principles can be applied to non-medical applications, such as security, space/environmental science, and energy.
The use of fluorescence and optically stimulated luminescence (“OSL”) for imaging is an advantageous approach for examining specimens in a nondestructive manner. These techniques allow for the detection of the wavelength-specific optical properties associated with excitable tissues. This information can be used to distinguish normal and diseased tissues. For example, fluorescent imaging has been used to identify the presence of tumors, while OSL has been used to image fingerprints and blood stains. Both of these techniques rely on the exogenous delivery of fluorophores.

subject to the constraints above. My professor recommended the Lagrangean method, which I’m familiar with, but I’m having difficulty applying to this problem. I can’t figure out what my Lagrangean would be. Does anybody have any suggestions?
